Messaging policy

Last updated 22 October 2026

This policy sets the rules for every reminder and message sent through DueDateAlerts by email, SMS, WhatsApp and app notification, whether you send it to yourself or to people in your contacts. It is part of our terms of service, and you agree to it when you create an account. DueDateAlerts is run by Rastotel Technologies Private Limited, registered office 1379 Sector C, Pocket 1, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi 110070, India ("we", "us"). "You" means the account holder.

In short: you decide what your reminders say and who receives them, so you are responsible for them. Send reminders only to yourself and to people who have agreed to receive them, keep them lawful and personal, and never use DueDateAlerts for advertising.

1. How messages are sent

  • You write the reminder (for example its title and notes) and choose when and to whom it goes. We send it on your instructions, using the wording and templates we have registered with our providers.
  • We send through third parties: email providers, telecom operators and SMS gateways (under the rules of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, TRAI), Meta Platforms (WhatsApp), and the push services of Google, Apple and Mozilla (app notifications).
  • You are the sender of your reminders' content. We provide the technology that delivers them and do not write, edit or check that content before it is sent.

2. Who you may send to

  • Yourself: to your own email address, mobile number and devices, once you have confirmed them.
  • Your contacts: family members, colleagues or advisers you add in Contacts, only after they have confirmed they agree. Email contacts confirm with a link; mobile numbers with a one-time code.
  • WhatsApp: only to your own mobile number, after you confirm it with a code sent on WhatsApp. WhatsApp's rules require each person's own agreement, so we do not send WhatsApp reminders to your contacts.
  • App notifications: only to devices on which you turned them on.
  • You confirm that every contact you add is a real person you know, who expects your reminders and has agreed to receive them. Do not add people from bought, copied or shared lists, or anyone who has asked you not to contact them.
  • If a contact unsubscribes (every email has an unsubscribe link) or asks you to stop, stop: do not add them again without their fresh agreement. We honour every unsubscribe.

3. What reminders may be used for

DueDateAlerts is for personal and household reminders (bills, EMIs, renewals, taxes, birthdays, medicines and the like) and reminders within your own family, team or business about real dates.

It must not be used for:

  • advertising, marketing or promotion of any product, service, business, scheme or cause (commercial or promotional communication under the TRAI Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2018, or under WhatsApp's policies);
  • bulk messaging, debt collection or recovery messages, political campaigning, or fundraising;
  • anything that could be mistaken for a message from a bank, government body, company or person you are not.

4. What your reminders must not contain

You must not use reminders, notes, contact names or anything else you enter to send or store content that is:

  • unlawful, or that encourages or helps anyone break the law;
  • defamatory, obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another person's privacy, insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, religion, caste, race or ethnicity, or threatening;
  • false or misleading, impersonating anyone, or claiming to come from someone it doesn't;
  • a scam, phishing attempt, fake prize or offer, or a request for money, OTPs, passwords, PINs or bank or card details;
  • links to harmful software, or to websites you are not entitled to share;
  • about gambling, betting, lotteries, drugs, weapons or other prohibited or regulated goods;
  • someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights;
  • sensitive personal data of other people, such as Aadhaar or PAN numbers, card or account numbers, passwords or health records, beyond what the recipient already knows and has agreed to receive;
  • anything that threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign states or public order, or that is otherwise prohibited under rule 3(1)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

5. The laws and rules you agree to follow

The content of your reminders and the way you use DueDateAlerts are governed by the laws of India and the rules of our providers, which you agree to follow, including:

  • the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, including the Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code Rules, 2021;
  • the Telecommunications Act, 2023, and TRAI's Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations, 2018 (including DLT registration of senders and templates);
  • the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023;
  • the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Copyright Act, 1957, the Trade Marks Act, 1999, and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019;
  • WhatsApp's Business Terms of Service, Business Messaging Policy and Commerce Policy;
  • the acceptable use rules of our email, SMS and push providers.

If a law or a provider's rule changes, the new version applies.

6. Your contacts' personal data

  • When you add a contact you give us their name and email address or mobile number. You confirm that you are allowed to share these with us for sending them reminders, and that you will tell them that you use DueDateAlerts to remind them.
  • We use contacts' details only to ask for their agreement and to send them the reminders you set, as our privacy policy explains. When you remove a contact or they unsubscribe, we stop sending to them.

7. Your responsibility

  • You are solely responsible for the content of your reminders, for the people you send them to, and for having their agreement.
  • You are responsible for everything sent from your account, so keep your password safe and tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.
  • You agree to indemnify (compensate) Rastotel Technologies Private Limited, its directors, staff and providers for any claim, penalty, loss or cost, including reasonable legal fees, that arises from the content you send, from sending to people without their agreement, or from breaking this policy or the law.

8. What we may do

To keep the service lawful and protect recipients, our providers and other customers, we may, without notice where needed:

  • check automatically, and where there is a complaint or a legal reason by hand, whether reminders follow this policy;
  • refuse, delay or not deliver a message, or remove content;
  • limit how many messages you can send, or switch off a channel for your account;
  • suspend or close your account, without a refund of credits used to break this policy;
  • keep records of messages sent (when, to whom, by which channel and whether they were delivered) for as long as the law requires;
  • share information with police, courts, regulators or our providers when the law requires it or to deal with a complaint, fraud or abuse.

9. Delivery

  • We send each reminder at the time you set, but delivery depends on networks, operators, Meta and other providers that we don't control. Messages can be late, filtered as spam, blocked by Do Not Disturb settings or not delivered at all.
  • Reminders are a helpful aid, not a guarantee. You remain responsible for paying your dues, renewing your policies and meeting your deadlines. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for late fees, penalties, lapsed policies or other losses caused by a reminder that was late, not delivered or not acted on, as set out in our terms of service.
  • Sending a reminder uses credits, as shown on the pricing page. A reminder that a provider refuses because of its content or the recipient's settings may still use credits.

10. Complaints and reporting abuse

If you receive a reminder you didn't agree to, or that breaks this policy, use the unsubscribe link in it, or write to support@duedatealerts.com. Our Grievance Officer is [Grievance Officer name], reachable at the same address. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, as the law requires.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example when laws or our providers' rules change. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or on the website, and ask you to agree to the new version before you continue sending reminders.
